I. LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Language knowledge and skills
Identify and say art, music, PE and IT, and understand favourite as the one liked most.
Repeat Ben and Linh's dialogue with the correct speakers and subjects.
Ask What's your favourite subject? and answer It's ... with a picture cue or a personal choice.
2. Competences
Listen for a speaker's meaning, practise in pairs and record a classmate's stated preference accurately.
3. Personal qualities
Respect different favourite subjects and encourage a partner to speak without judging the choice.
4. Integrated learning
[CB2.1.1] Identify the need for an English song about school subjects and suggest a simple query
for a teacher-guided YouTube Kids search (PPCT 1.1.Cb2a).
[4.A1.2] Check a simulated claim about Linh's favourite subject against the actual dialogue;
people verify the source.
II. TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS
Textbook p. 56; Teacher's Book pp. 112–114; audio Tracks 77–78 if available, or the verified teacher-
read scripts below.
Notebooks and four subject labels: art, music, PE, IT. Optional shared device: teacher previews a
suitable school-subject song in YouTube Kids before class; no pupil account or personal data is
needed.
Begin the Unit 8 survey in notebooks with columns Classmate | Favourite subject | Reason. Fill the
reason after learning the pattern in Period 52.
III. TEACHING AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES
1. Warm-up — What do we need to find? (3 minutes)
Learning goal: State a search need connected with the school-subject topic.
Task content and materials
Need: an English song that helps us remember school-subject words. Query to suggest: school
subjects song for kids.
Ask: Do we need a song about subjects or a cartoon about animals? Key: a song about subjects.
On the teacher's prepared YouTube Kids screen, identify the search words and a result relevant to
subjects. Use only a result the teacher has checked; do not choose by a colourful thumbnail alone.
 5 Biên soạn: Lop4.vn
If the service/search is unavailable, write the two topic choices above and practise saying the query.
This fallback demonstrates the information need, not an actual search.

Assessment and support: Record whether the pupil states the need and suggests relevant words. Record
digital search only if it is actually performed.
2. Vocabulary — art, music, PE, IT (4 minutes)
Learning goal: Link four school subjects to their classroom meanings.
Task content and materials
Picture/gesture cues: painting a picture → art; singing a song → music; doing physical exercise → PE;
using a computer → IT.
PE stands for Physical Education; IT stands for Information Technology. Pupils practise the short
letter names PE and IT; the long forms are teacher explanations.
Favourite means the one you like most. Model choice: I like art. My favourite subject is art.
Quick checks: Which subject uses a computer? IT. Which subject has physical exercise? PE.
