I. Overview.

1. Objectives:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to know the way to greet and respond greetings formally.

2. Language focus:

Vocabulary: well, late, morning, afternoon, evening.

Sentence pattern: Good morning

Skill: speaking and listening

3. Teaching aids: teacher’s and student’s book, CD, pictures

II. Procedure

- Ask students to sing the ABC song

- Ask students some questions which relate to greeting: nice to see you, how are you?.

*. Presentation

a. New words

- Teacher presents students some new words:

+ Well/ Good (a) (synonym)

+ Morning

+Afternoon

+ Evening

- Teacher plays the tape and students repeat these words.

- Teacher reads again and then calls some students to read aloud. The others listen and give comments about their friend’s pronunciation.

-Teacher correct students’ mistakes

- Ask students to take note

- Give students to play the game “rub out and remember” to check their vocabulary.

b. Sentence patter:

- Teacher presents ( explains) the new structure and gives a example.

- Students listen and take note.

*. Practice.

1. Look, listen and repeat.

- Ask students listen and repeat after the tape.

- Repeat again and then role play the dialogue.

-Call some students to practice in front of the class. Teacher corrects.

2. Point and say.

- Ask students to look at the pictures in the book and work in pairs.

- Call some pairs to act out.

- Correct their pronoun. Make a short greeting dialogue.

- Call some students to act out in the class.

- Learn the new words and structure by heart

- Do the exercise in the work book
