Lesson 2 (1, 2, 3) Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about what someone did in the past. - Sentence Patterns: What did you do yesterday? − I ___. - Vocabulary: played badminton, painted a picture, watered the flowers 2. Look, listen and repeat. - Ss open their books on P.66 picture and identify the characters and what they are doing - Ss listen to the dialogue. - Listen and repeat each line of the dialogue. What did ...?- I ... - Read in 2 groups (play role). - Some pairs to read aloud. Others give comments. Task 2. Point and say - Look and identify characters’ activities. Introduce Verb + ed and how to read them. - Guide ss how to answer this question. - Do picture a as a model. - Reading after T & note down. - Ss practice acting out the dialogue point & use the information in picture a, b, c in pair. - 6-7 pairs say in front of the class. Others give comments. Task 3. Let’s talk - Talk in pair to ask and answer questions about what someone did in the past. - 7-8 pairs display in class. The rest of the class give comments. - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook. I +verb-ed. - Listen and number the pictures in the correct order. - Read and complete the conversations, using the pictures. - Play the game Pelmanism. - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Let’s talk - Tell Ss that they are going to revise what they have learnt in lesson 1 and lesson 2, using Where were you yesterday? What did they do yesterday? - Ask S to work in pairs - Select some pairs to role play in front of the class Task 2. Listen and number - Tell Ss that they are going to listen to four dialogues about where Linda was and what she did and number the pictures - Have them look at the pictures to identify what the character in each picture is doing - Give them time to do the task in pairs - Get S to swap the answers Task 3. Look and write - Tell Ss that they are going to complete the answers to the questions about where the characters were and what they did - Give S time to do the task independently - Get them to swap their answers Task 6. Let’s play - Tell Ss that they are going to play the game Pelmanism - Prepare two sets of cards, one with present activities and the other with the same activities in past form - Play in groups: one S selects two cards, if the cards show the same activities, he will get one point - The game ends when all the cards are gone - Call on a group to act out the game in front of the class - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook. Knowledge: - Pronounce the final ed in played, watched, and painted. - Listen and tick the boxes showing the correct sounds of the final ed of the verbs in the sentences. Then say the sentences aloud. - Say the chant What did he do yesterday? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills: - Develop Ss listening, speaking and reading skills, do exercises in book. 3. Knowledge: - Read the paragraph and fill the gapped sentences. - Write about themselves, using a writing frame. - Work in pairs, ask the partner where he / she was, and what he / she did the weekend before. - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills: - Develop Ss listening, writing, speaking and reading skills. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Confident when talking English - United friend 4. Forming competence: - Know how to practise some sounds - Practise in pairs II. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... Let’s chant - Tell pupils that they are going to say the chant. What did he do yesterday? - Have pupils read the chant and check comprehension. - Play the recording a few times for pupils to do choral and individual repetition. Show them how to chant and do actions. - Put the class into two groups to practice chanting and doing actions. Each of the groups should sing one verse of the chant. Go around offering help, if necessary. - Call two pairs to the front of the class to chant and do actions. The rest of the class claps along to the rhythm. Task 4. Read and complete - Tell Ss that they are going to read the text and complete the sentences - Get them to read the text and incomplete sentences and elicit what words they need to fill the gaps - Give Ss time to do the task independently - Get them to swap the answers Task 5. Write about you - Tell Ss that they are going to write a short paragraph about themselves - Have Ss work in pairs or groups to discuss what they did yesterday - Give S time to do the task independently - Get them to swap the answers Task 6. Project - Tell S that they are going to do an interview with one of their classmates about where he/she was and what he/she did last weekend and report to the class - Ask them work in pairs - Get some S to report to the class - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook.
