- Pronounce the letter s in sing, and the letter cluster sw in swim.
- Listen and number the sentences. Then say them aloud.
- Say the chant Can you sing?
- Sentence Patterns: Revision

3. Attitudes/ Quality: To help Ss loving English.
4. Forming competence:
- Be proactive when performing tasks

Week: 08 Period: 29 UNIT 5: CAN YOU SWIM? Lesson 3 (1, 2, 3) I. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer question about whether someone can do something. - Pronounce the letter s in sing, and the letter cluster sw in swim. - Listen and number the sentences. Then say them aloud. - Say the chant Can you sing? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills: - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: To help Ss loving English. 4. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... III. Preparation. 1.Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book. 2.Student’s preparation: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. Procedures. Listen and repeat -Tell pupils that they are going to practice saying the sounds of the letters s and sw in the words sing and swim respectively. - Play the recording and ask pupils to repeat a few times. - Put the letters s and sw, the words sing and swim and the sentences I can sing and I can’t swim on the board. - Play the recording a few more times and let pupils say the sentences, paying attention to the target sounds. Task 2. Listen and number. Then say aloud - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to four sentences with the sounds s and sw and number them. - Give pupils a few seconds to read the sentences in silence and identify the words with the letters s and sw. Explain the new word swing. Check pupils’ understanding. - Have pupils listen to the recording and number the sentences. - Play the recording again for them to check their answers. - Remind pupils to focus on the words with the sounds s and sw while listening. - Get pupils to say the sentences aloud Audio script: T’s book/48 Key: a. 4 b. 1 c. 2 d. 3 Task 4. Let’s chant - Tell pupils that they are going to say the chant Can you sing? - Check comprehension. - Play the recording a few times for pupils to do choral and individual repetition. Show them how to chant and do actions. - Put them into groups of four. Get pairs or groups to sit opposite of each other and practice chanting and doing actions. - Go around offering help, if necessary. - Asking Ps to focus on the structure once again. - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook. Learn by heart the new words and structures - Sing Can you swim? - Listen. Then listen and repeat - Look at the board and catch - Listen and repeat - Look at the book and read - Listen. Lesson 3 (4, 5, 6) I. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer question about whether someone can do something. - Read the paragraph, and write the name of the player under each picture. - Read the guiding paragraph, and write about themselves. - Interview three friends, and complete the chart. - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills: - Reading, writing and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: To help Ss loving English. 4. Forming competence: - Be proactive when performing tasks - Have communication skills and active participate in teamwork II. Read and complete. - Tell pupils that they are going to read the text about Mai and her friends Nam and Phong and write their names under the pictures. Explain the meaning of and in the pictures. Check understanding. - Have pupils read the first three lines of the passage and explain why we put Mai under the third pair of pictures. - Give pupils time to do the task independently. Go around to offer help, if necessary. - Correct Key: 1. Nam 2. Phong Task 5. Write about yourself - Tell pupils that they are going to write a short paragraph about what they can and cannot do, following the structure of the given text. - Tell pupils that the given text is an article from a blog. Ask pupils to ask/answer about: her name, what she can do and what she cannot do. - Have them work in pairs or groups to discuss what they are going to write. Then give them time to do the task independently. Go around to offer help, if necessary - Check Key: Pupils’ own answers Task 6. Project - Tell pupils that they are going to interview three classmates to get information about their abilities and complete the chart. - Ask pupils to pay attention to the sample sentences in the bubbles. Check their understanding of the symbols of the chart. - Give pupils time to do the interview in class. - Check - Asking Ps to focus on the structure once again. - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook. Learn by heart the new words and structures -Chant Can you sing? The rest of the class claps to the rhythm. - Listen - Read individually silently - Work in individual, read the text and focus on the information to complete the blanks - Swap their answers - Read the blog to understand what Linda writes about herself: ask/answer - Discuss in Gs how to write - Swap and check their answers before checking as a class. - Read and catch - Do a demonstration in front of the class as an example before starting the activity. - Make the chart and interview friends to complete it - Some Ss report their work in front of the class - Take note Week: 08 Period: 31 REVIEW 1 I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Review all the structures from lesson 1 to lesson 5. - Listen and tick the correct pictures. - Read the paragraph, and write the answers to the questions. - Fill the gapped sentences, using the pictures. Then say the completed sentences. - Write about themselves, using a guiding frame. 2. Skills: - Listening, speaking, reading and writing. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Confident when using English - Working hard - United friends 4.Competences: - Co-operation love schools and about the sounds. - Self-study ability, ability to operate, live responsibly. - Using language to talk about the sounds of letters s and sw in the words sing and swim respectively. II. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... Week: 08 Period: 32 SHORT STORY: CAT AND MOUSE 1 I. Objectives: - By the end of this lesson, students will be able to practice all the knowledge they have learn. - Read and listen to a short story. - Read and fill a gapped conversation. - Work in groups of three, read a conversation, and act it out, replacing the original names with the current speakers’ names. - Unscramble the words from the story. 2. Skills: - Listening, speaking, reading and writing. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Confident when using English - Working hard - United friends 4.Competences: - Co-operation love schools and about the sounds. - Self-study ability, ability to operate, live responsibly. - Develop speaking skill. - Ss look after, solve problems and study themselves. - Studious and obedient students and love their friends. II. Teaching aids: - Teacher’s aids: student’s and teacher’s book, word cards, pictures, puppets. - Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Homework (2’) - Present vocabulary: story, cousin ( picture, real object).I’m very well. - Set the scene: Have Ss look at the pictures and introduce six characters. Teacher describe the content of each picture. a. Complete the conversation - Check and correct. b.Work in groups of three c. Unscramble these words from conversation - Review all - Listen and take note - Ss look at the picture and read the story - Ss look at the picture carefully and listen to the tape. - Ss look & read silently the sentences. Then complete the sentences in individual. - Have Ss trade their answers in pairs for correction. - Ss to read the answers aloud to the class. The others listen and give comments. - Ask some questions to ensure Ss’ comprehension of the listening text. 1st reading: Ss read the sentences individually . 2nd reading: Ss do read the sentences in groups of three. - Ss act the conversation out with their names. - Call on some Ss to role play in front of the class.. Others listen and comment. - Asking Ss to unscramble in individual. - Call some Ss to write on the board. The rest give comment. - Correct.
