Week: 29 Period: 111 UNIT 17: HOW MUCH IS THE T-SHIRT? Lesson 2 (1, 2, 3) I. Objectives. - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about prices of clothes (plural). - Pupils can ask and answer questions about the prices of clothes - Sentence Patterns: How much are the .? ̶ They’re - Vocabulary: Jeans - 75,000 dong; shoes - 93,000 dong; trousers - 98,000 dong; sandals - 85,000 dong 2. III. Preparation. 1. Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book. 2. Student’s preparation: students’ books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. Procedures. Homework (2’) - Ask some pupils to go to the front of the class to sing the song What’s your phone number? The rest of the class sing along and clap hand. Task 1. Listen and repeat. - Introduce the story by saying Look at the pictures and find out what Mai wants to buy in the supermarket. (A pair of yellow trousers) - Play the recording more than once. For pupils to listen and repeat the language. Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Correct the pronunciation. Task 2. Point and say. - Tell the class that they are going to ask and answer questions about prices - Have them to look the pictures and the words and phrases under them. - Teach vocabulary: Jeans, shoes, trousers and sandals. get pupils to read the words twice. -Do an example with a pupil using Picture a. Then have pupils work in pairs before inviting one or two pairs - Point to the first picture and ask them. - Sentence Patterns: T:+ How much are the .? - They’re .. - Ask ps to work in pairs and do the task. - Call a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. Task 3. Let’s talk. - Introduce the activity and check comprehension. Then spend a few seconds revising the use of that and those and the nouns that follow them (that skirt, those skirts). - Get pupils to work in pairs to ask and answer questions about clothes. They may take turns to play the role of a customer and a sales assistant and point at other classmates’ clothes and ask and answer about the prices. - Asking Ps to focus on the structure once again. - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook. Learn by heart the new words and structures - Ps sing the song What’s your phone number? - Open the book page 48. - Do choral and individual repetition - Open the book, work in pairs, point the pictures, ask and answer the question about price. - Go to the board and make the conversation. - Correct the mistakes (if any). - Look at the pictures carefully and remember the clothes. - Work in pairs or in a small group, ask and answer the questions. - Some pairs to role – play in front of the class. - Practice in pairs ********************************************************************* Week: 29 Period: 112 UNIT 17: HOW MUCH IS THE T-SHIRT? Lesson 2 (4, 5, 6) I. Objectives. - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about prices of clothes (plural). - Listen and write the prices under the pictures. - Read and fill the gapped sentences, using the pictures. - Sing the song: Buying clothes. - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary : Revision 2. Skills. - Develop Ss speaking and listening skills 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Be polite and how to bargain - Confident in learning and practice situations 4. Forming competence: - Self- study. - Communication and co-operation. II. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... Listen and write the prices. - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to four dialogues about clothes and write the prices. - Give a few seconds for them to look at the pictures - Play the recoding three times. - When the listening activity is over, have four pupils tell the class the prices of the four clothing items (eg. Look at this picture. The sandals are 90,000 dong) Key: a.90,000dong b.73,000 c.80,000 d. 95,000dong Task 2. Look and write. - Tell pupils that they are going to look at the pictures and write the name of each clothing items and its price. - Give them a few seconds to look at the pictures and read the text. - Set a time limit for task. Remind pupils to write the words for the prices. - Call some pupils to read aloud their sentences and check the answers as a class. Task 3. Let’s sing - Tell the class that they are going to sing the song: Buying clothes, following the procedure in Teaching the unit components in Introduction. - Have pupils read each line of the lyrics aloud. Check comprehension. - Have the class sing the song again and clap their hands or do actions to reinforce learning. - Asking Ps to focus on the structure once again. - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook. Learn by heart the new words and structures - Answer - Open the book page 49. - Look at pictures and identify the clothing items - Listen to the recoding. - Tell the prices of clothing. - Look at the pictures and write the name of each clothing items and its price. - Go to the board and complete. - Read aloud the sentences - Correct the mistakes (if any). - Listen to the teacher. - Listen to the tape. - Ps sings group. ********************************************************************* Week: 29 Period: 113 UNIT 17: HOW MUCH IS THE T-SHIRT? Knowledge: - Pronounce two-syllable words with the stress on the first syllable 'sandals, 'trousers, 'jumper, and 'jacket. - Look at the sentences and the stress marks ('). Then listen and say the sentences aloud. - Say the chant How much is / are...? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary : Revision 2. Skills: Listening, and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Ss look after, solve problem s and study themselves. - Studious and obedient students and love their family. 4. Forming competence: - Communication and co-operation. - Problem solving and creativity II. Homework (2’) - Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by having the class sing the song Buying clothes, one haft singing the questions and the other half sing the answer. Task 1. Listen and repeat. - Tell the class that they are going to practise saying words ‘sandals, ‘trousers, ‘jumper and ‘jacket. - First, explain to pupils what word stress is , in Vietnamese, if necessary. - Write ‘sandals, ‘trousers,’jumper and ‘jacket. - Play the recording and ask pupils to repeat them,paying attention to the target words and stress. Correct the pronunciation, if necessary. Task 2. Listen at the sentences and the stress mark(‘).Then listen and say the sentences aloud. - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the sentences, listen to the recoding and repeat the sentences. - Give them a few seconds to read each of the sentences in silence. - Invite a few pupils to read aloud the sentences, while the rest of the class clap at the stressed syllable. Correct the pronunciation, if necessary. Task 3. Let’s chant. - Tell pupils that they are going to say the chant How much is/are ..? Follow the procedure in Teaching the unit components in Introduction. - Play the recording a few times - Divide the class into two halves: one haft says the questions and the other half says the answers. - Tell the content of the lesson. - Practise with their friends ask and answer about How much is/are...? - Prepare the next period - The whole class sing the song Buying clothes. - Students open book page 44. - Ss listen. - Ss observe - Ss listen and write down. - Look at the sentences. - Listen to the recoding and repeat the sentences. - Practice reading the sentences. - Read in chorus. - Ss observe - Ss listen. - One haft says the questions and the other half says the answers. - Ss practise. - The whole class repeat the chant - Students remember. ********************************************************************* Week: 29 Period: 114 UNIT 17: HOW MUCH IS THE T-SHIRT? Lesson 3 (4, 5, 6) I. Objectives. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Pronounce the words respectively. - Read the paragraph and complete the table. - Draw three clothing items and write their prices. - Make four flashcards of clothes. Draw a picture of a clothing item on one side of the card and write the word for it on the other side. Then practise with a partner. - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills: Listening, reading, writing and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Ss look after, solve problem s and study themselves. - Studious and obedient students and love their family. 4. Forming competence: - Communication and co-operation. - Problem solving and creativity II. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... Have a class pronounce two-syllable words with the stress on the first syllable. Remind them to use a louder voice for the first syllable. You may ask them to clap at the stressed syllable as they say the words. Here are some words you may use‘sandals, ‘trousers,’jumper , ‘jacket, ‘yellow. Task 1. Read and complete. - Tell the class that they are going to read the text and complete the table. - Spend a few minutes having pupils play the game Bang. A pair of socks, a pair slipper. - Introduce the task. Set a time limit for pupils to read the text and complete the table. - Get pupils to swap and correct their answers before checking as a class. Task 2. Draw three clothing items and write their prices. - Introduce the activity by saying Now it’s time for you to draw your three favourite clothing items and write their prices. - Draw a few sketches of clothes on the board as examples. - Set a time for them to do the task in silence. When time is up, get two or three pupils to show their drawings and read aloud their writing. Key: Pupils’s own answers. Task 3. Project. - Tell pupils that they are going to make four flashcards of clothes. - Give each pupil four card, and also some crayons a d colour pencils for drawing. - Key: Pupils’ own answers - Asking Ps to focus on the structure once again. - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook. Learn by heart the new words and structures - Whole the class using a louder voice for the first syllable. - Open the book on page 51. - Play the game Bang. - Write down the notebook. Complete the table individual. - Check the answer. - Listen to the teacher. - Look at the board. - Do the task individual. - Read aloud their writing. - Some pupils to their drawings and read aloud their writing. - Whole class - Word individual. - Ss listen - Ss remember. *********************************************************************
