Week: 12 Period: 45 UNIT 7: WHAT DO YOU LIKE DOING? Lesson 3 (1, 2, 3) I. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Pronounce the initial letter clusters fl in flying, and pl in playing. - Listen and circle the correct letters showing the correct verb phrases filling the gapped sentences. Methods: Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... III. Preparation. 1.Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book. 2.Student’s preparation: Students’ aids:books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. Procedures. Listen and repeat. (10 minutes) - Tell pupils that they are going to practice saying the sounds of the letters fl and pl in the words Japan and Vietnamese respectively. -Put the phonics letters fl and pl on the board and say them a few times. - Ask pupils to look at their book, then play the recording for pupils to listen and repeat. - Ask pupils to read the letters, words and sentences until pupils feel confident. - Get some pupils to say the letters, words, and sentences in front of the class. - Correct mistakes of pronunciation. 2. Listen and circle. Then say aloud. (10 minutes) - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording and circle the correct phrases to complete the sentences. - Give them a few seconds to read the sentences in silence and guess the phrases to fill the gaps. - Play the recording twice for pupils to listen and circle. - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and check. - Ask pupils to read aloud the sentences. * Key: 1 b 2 a 3 b 4 a 3. Let’s chant (10 minutes) - Tell pupils that they are going to say the chant: Flying a little kite. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for pupils to repeat. - Play the recording once more for pupils to repeat the whole chant, show pupils how to chant and do the actions - Get pupils to work in pairs to practice chanting and doing the action. -Invite some pairs to say the chant and do actions in front of the class - Give feedback. - Ask the whole class to say the chant and clap along to the rhythm of the chant. - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook. Knowledge: - Read the email and fill the gapped sentences. - Write the email replying to Mai’s email in Activity 4. - Show the collected things to the class. - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills: - Develop Ss listening, reading & writing skills. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Confident when talking English - United friend 4. Forming competence: - Know how to practise some sounds - Practise in pairs II. Methods: Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... (10 minutes) - Tell pupils that they are going to read Mai’s email and complete the sentences. - Have them look at the email and discuss questions such as Who is writing the email? Who is he or she writing to? and What is the email about? - Ask pupils to read the text again and do the task - Set a time limit for pupils to do the task. - Go around the class and offer help, if necessary. - Ask pupils to compare their answers before checking as a class - Call four pupils to write their answers on the board. - Give feedback and correct mistakes *Key: 1. Skills: - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Love their class, love subjects - Have positive attitudes with subjects - United friend 4. Forming competence: - To know talk about subjects in their class - Practise in pairs II. Methods: Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... Work in pairs. Ask your partners what subjects they have today. - Tell pupils that they are going to practise in pairs: one asks and the other answers questions about the actual subjects they have today, using What subjects do you have today? I have ... - Get pupils to work in pairs, one asking and the other giving the answer. - Invite a few pairs to role-play in front of the class - Give comments. - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook. Skills: - Listening, reading and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Love their class, love subjects - Have positive attitudes with subjects - United friend 4. Forming competence: - To know talk about their class - Practise in pairs II. Methods: Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... (10 minutes) - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to three dialogues about school subjects and tick the correct pictures. - Have them look at the pictures. Ask them what these subjects are called in English - Play the recording for pupils to listen and tick. - Get pupils to swap their answers before you check as a class. - Ask pupils to give answers - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and check - Give correct answers. (10 minutes) - Tell pupils that they are going to fill the gaps of the sentences with different days of the week and the subjects they have. - Have them look at the pictures to identify the days of the week and the subjects they have on each day. - Ask pupils to do the task. - Get pupils to swap their answers. - Ask pupils to give answers and other pupils to give comments. - Give correct answers. *Key:1. Monday, Vietnamese, Science and English. 2.Wednesday, has Maths, IT and Music. 3 Friday, have Maths, Science and Art. 5. Let’s sing. (10 minutes) - Tell pupils that they are going to sing the What day is it today? song. - Get pupils to read the lyrics in silence. Check their comprehension. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to get familiarized with the pronunciation, the stress, the rhythm and the intonation of the song. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for pupils to repeat. - Play the recording once more for pupils to repeat the whole song. - Then have them practice in groups. - Call on some groups to sing the song in front of the class. The rest of the class clap their hands at rhythms. - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook.
